Important Information for Clients

The following information is provided to help clients understand the scope of our services and what to expect when caring for a freshwater aquarium.

1. Our Approach to Aquarium Care

We take every reasonable and responsible step to care for, maintain, and improve the overall health, stability, and appearance of each aquarium we service.• Our goal is to support a balanced, thriving ecosystem
• We work to reduce stress on fish and aquatic life
• Maintenance practices are tailored to each system

2. Living Systems & Natural Variability

Aquariums are living ecosystems. While professional care greatly improves water quality and fish health, outcomes can vary based on factors such as:• prior tank condition
• stocking levels
• age of the system
• water chemistry
• existing stress or health concerns
Natural biological responses may still occur despite best practices.

3. Fish Health & Stress Responses

Maintenance activities — even when done carefully — can temporarily affect fish behavior or stress levels.Factors that may influence outcomes include:
• pre-existing health conditions
• environmental imbalances
• past maintenance gaps
We always work to minimize disruption and promote recovery and long-term stability.

4. Tank Condition & Improvement Timeline

Some aquariums may require multiple visits to achieve optimal clarity and balance. This is especially common in tanks with:
• algae buildup
• water quality issues
• extended gaps between maintenance
Improvements are often progressive rather than instant.

5. Aquarium Size Reference (Gallons ↔ Litres)

Aquariums are commonly referenced using US gallons, however many clients are more familiar with litres.General conversion:
• 1 US gallon ≈ 3.785 litres
Common aquarium sizes (approximate):
• 10 gal ≈ 38 L
• 20 gal ≈ 76 L
• 29 gal ≈ 110 L
• 30 gal ≈ 114 L
• 40 gal ≈ 151 L
• 55 gal ≈ 208 L
• 64 gal ≈ 242 L
• 75 gal ≈ 284 L
• 90 gal ≈ 341 L
• 125 gal ≈ 473 L
Important notes:
• Volume is typically based on external tank dimensions
• Décor, substrate, and equipment reduce usable water volume
• Manufacturer ratings may vary slightly
When unsure, we are happy to help estimate aquarium size during the quoting process.

6. Aquarium Support & Structural Considerations

Aquariums are very heavy and require proper long-term support.General reference:
• 1 US gallon of water weighs approximately 8.34 lbs
• A 64-gallon aquarium can weigh over 530 lbs when filled
(before glass, substrate, décor, and equipment)
Clients are responsible for ensuring aquariums are placed on stands or structures designed to safely support this weight.
Proper support is essential for long-term stability and safety.

7. Access & Work Area

To complete services efficiently, the following may be required:• clear access to the aquarium
• nearby power outlets
• access to water sources
Sufficient space around the tank helps ensure safe maintenance.

8. Ongoing Care & Maintenance

Regular maintenance plays a major role in aquarium health and appearance.• Ongoing service options are available
• Guidance can be provided for care between visits
We’re always happy to discuss maintenance plans if desired.

9. Photos & Media Use

From time to time, we may take photos or short videos of aquariums we service. These may be used to:
• document progress and improvements
• review our work internally
• showcase examples of our services
• help future clients understand what’s possible
No identifying personal details are shared.
Clients may opt out of photography in writing.
